MLB seeks sale of Dodgers

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Attorneys for Major League Baseball are asking a Delaware bankruptcy judge to order the sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In a court filing Friday, MLB attorneys argue that Dodgers owner Frank McCourt is using the team's bankruptcy to resolve his own financial problems. They also argue that the Dodgers' plan to auction the team's television rights without league approval could lead to the team's ouster from the league and a breach of the Dodgers' existing contract with Fox Sports.

Baseball attorneys say that essentially would eliminate the team's value. They argue the only way to successfully emerge from bankruptcy is to sell the Dodgers.

A hearing on the league's motion is tentatively set for Oct. 12.
