LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a 20-year-old Arkansas college student reported missing last week has been found dead in a pond south of Little Rock and her death has been ruled a homicide.

Officials said Monday that Patricia Guardado's body was discovered Sunday afternoon in a few feet of water south of Sweet Home, Ark. A cause of death hasn't been released.

A dive team was expected to search the pond but Little Rock Police Lt. Terry Hastings isn't saying what evidence, if any, has been recovered.

Police aren't commenting on whether Guardado had been assaulted or how long she'd been in the pond.

Guardado was last seen leaving her parents' home last Wednesday morning. She never made it to her 9 a.m. class at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
