ALFRED, Maine (AP) — Maine State Police say they've asked the Naval Criminal Investigative Service for help with their efforts to identify the body of a young boy found on the side of a back road.

During a Tuesday briefing in Alfred, state police Lt. Brian McDonough said a witness saw a dark blue truck near where the body was found that had some type of naval insignia near the license plate.

McDonough says investigators have worked their way through about half of the more than 200 tips they've received since the boy's body was found Saturday in South Berwick.

Police gave no indication they were any closer to identifying the child.

The boy is believed to be between 4 and 6 years old. The cause of death hasn't been released.
