COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) — A northern Kentucky man is accused of beating his Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor to death with a baseball bat.
A Covington Police detective testified in court Tuesday that the sponsor, Shain Pierce, returned home after having a toe amputated and found the man he was sponsoring, 47-year-old Leslie Haun, and Haun's 19-year-old son Robert Haun drinking alcohol.
Detective Mike Thompson told the court that when Pierce ordered the men out Sept. 19, the elder Haun beat him with an aluminum baseball bat and a table leg, according to The Kentucky Enquirer (http://bit.ly/nj8yUF ).
Leslie Haun is charged with murder. Robert Haun is charged with complicity to murder. Police say he denied having anything to do with the death.
Attorneys for the two men did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
