(CNSNews.com) – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, speaking at the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting, said Thursday that the GOP has to “stop being the stupid party.”

“We’ve got to stop being the stupid party. I’m serious. It’s time for a new Republican Party that talks like adults,” Jindal said.

The Republican governor said it’s time for the GOP to “articulate our plans” and “visions for America in real terms.”

“It’s no secret we had a number of Republicans that damaged the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments. I’m here to say: We’ve had enough of that,” he added.

Jindal added that the Republican Party must “stop insulting the intelligence of voters” and instead “trust the smarts of the American people.”

“We’ve got stop talking down to them. We’ve got to stop dumbing down our ideas and stop reducing everything to mindless slogans and taglines for 30 second ideas,” Jindal said.
