(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said today there is "absolute proof" Osama bin Laden is dead and that a photo of his dead body should not be released.

“I share the president’s view," Hoyer said at a Capitol Hill press conference. "In my opinion, there’s no--there’s no end served by releasing the picture of someone who has been killed. And I think there’s absolute proof that Osama bin Laden was in fact the person that was taken into custody, was killed in the process, in the firefight. But I don’t think there’s any necessity to release the picture.”

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.)

Hoyer also said he has not seen any of the photos. President Barack Obama has said the photos will not be released.

"We don't trot out this stuff as trophies," Obama said during an interview set to air on this coming Sunday’s edition of  60 Minutes on CBS.

“We discussed this internally,” said Obama.  “Keep in mind, we are absolutely certain that this was him. We've done DNA sampling and testing. And so there is no doubt that we killed Osama bin Laden."
