High water closes parts of Beltway near DC

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — Heavy rains have shut down parts of a major commuter highway in Washington's Virginia suburbs.

High water forced authorities to close the Capital Beltway in both directions Thursday evening where it crosses a stream called Cameron Run and at another location in Fairfax County.

As many as 10 inches of rain have fallen in some places in the area around Washington since Wednesday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee have passed through.
