Gun Control Group Depicts NRA President As Hijacker

(CNSNews.com) -Gun lobby extremists have taken our nation hostage In a new push for gun control legislation, an anti-gun group has launched an Internet-based message depicting National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston as an airline hijacker.

"Gun lobby extremists have taken our country hostage," reads the message on the Website of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. The group recently changed its name from Handgun Control Inc.

As part of the pitch, an animated cartoon of Heston removes his Moses-like garb, bares two handguns, and frightens apparent "hostages" on a commercial airliner.

"Why are we being held up by extremists when the majority of Americans believe in common sense gun laws?" the cartoon continues.

Calling the NRA's position on gun control "irresponsible and dangerous," the Brady pitch urges anti-gun advocates to send a letter to Heston saying, "We will no longer let you and the gun lobby hold our government hostage."

The NRA dismissed the e-movie as "pretty juvenile."

To questions regarding the seriousness of violence aboard airliners and the portrayal of Heston as a hijacker, Nancy Hwa, spokesperson for the Brady Campaign, said, "I don't think anybody thinks that it's a real plane. We don't think we went overboard on it."
