SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Federal authorities have joined the search for two suspects in a double-murder in Utah and an attempted carjacking in Nevada.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Jim Phelps said Monday the suspects are extremely dangerous and a manhunt is under way.

The crime spree began Saturday outside a West Wendover, Nev., casino, when a man and woman tried to carjack another woman who was shot in the head while escaping. She remains hospitalized.

The attackers led Nevada authorities on a 50-mile chase on Interstate 80 before disappearing down a dirt road. They haven't been seen since.

Later Saturday, authorities found the bodies of an elderly couple in their Mount Pleasant home, about 100 miles south of Salt Lake City.
