(CNSNews.com) - Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski, speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations Tuesday, said he is thankful now that the election is over so “so we can finally focus on the real issues facing America like catching Abu Nazir” – a fictional terrorist on the Showtime series “Homeland.”

“Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I, for one, am thankful that the election is over so we can finally focus on the real issues facing America like catching Abu Nazir. It’s Homeland as a TV show on Showtime,” he said. “Let’s move on to nonfiction.”

Nazir, played by actor Navid Negahban, is a high-ranking member of al Qaeda on the TV series and was a recurring character in the first season of the series and is starring in the second season.

Genachowski spoke at the Council on Foreign Relations about the role of the FCC in international telecommunications policy.
