OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Prosecutors have decided not to pursue charges against a former Omaha teacher accused of taking two students outside their school building and encouraging them to resolve a dispute by fighting.
Patrick Kocsis (KOH'-sihs) was fired from McMillan Magnet Middle School last month. He had been on paid leave since the Aug. 22 incident, which was recorded by a security camera.
Omaha police had cited Kocsis on two counts of misdemeanor child neglect. But city prosecutor Marty Conboy said Wednesday that the boys weren't injured and didn't seem to have been in real danger of being hurt.
Kocsis had worked at McMillan for nine years.
The boys initially were suspended, but the district later removed the punishment from their records.
