(CNSNews.com) - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton says, Republicans setting up a committee to investigate Planned Parenthood is “just code for a partisan witch hunt.”
Clinton made the comment at the Democratic National Committee Women’s Leadership Forum Conference in Washington, D.C Friday.
“For people that say they hate big government, Republicans sure spend a lot of time trying to restrict women’s reproductive health and reproductive rights,” Clinton told the crowd.
“After my experience yesterday I am just amazed that they are even talking about setting up another special investigative committee – this time to investigate Planned Parenthood.”
“I think we all know by now that’s just code for a partisan witch hunt,” Clinton said.
The day before the Democratic forum, Clinton was testifying before the House Select Committee on Benghazi. The committee was formed to investigate the events surrounding the September 11, 2012, terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in which four Americans died. Hillary Clinton was the Secretary of State at the time.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee is set to have a select investigative panel look into the practice of the distribution of fetal tissue obtained by Planned Parenthood.
The investigations follow the release of several videos by the Center For Medical Progress showing Planned Parenthood executives discussing the collection of money for fetal parts obtained through abortions.
