SHAW ISLAND, Wash. (AP) — The Coast Guard says a crab boat ran aground on rocks in the San Juan Islands about 70 miles northwest of Seattle, injuring six of the seven people on board.
Petty Officer Jacob Mansga in Seattle says the Coast Guard was notified of the grounding near Shaw Island early Friday.
He says a San Juan County sheriff's boat picked up the seven and took them to Friday Harbor. Six were injured and two were flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The 22-foot vessel is on rocks and did not sink.
A Coast Guard vessel did not find a fuel spill. However, Washington Ecology Department spokesman Seth Preston says it's also responding to check out the possibility of a spill.
