DETROIT (AP) — An invalid juvenile court order has led a judge to dismiss criminal charges against a Detroit mother who held police at bay outside her home for 12 hours when they tried to remove her 13-year-old daughter.
Prosecutors also say 36th District Court Judge Ronald Giles dismissed charges against Maryanne Godboldo (god-BOWL'-doh) Monday because there was insufficient evidence to show she fired a gun at police.
The prosecutor's office says it will appeal the dismissal.
Godboldo was charged with discharging a weapon, felonious assault, resisting and obstructing an officer.
Godboldo says Child Protective Services in March sent officers to the house for her daughter because she had taken the girl off an anti-psychotic drug. A jury in Juvenile Court found her guilty of neglect earlier this month.
