(CNSNews.com) – House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) warned that Democrats need to win only 25 seats in the House of Representatives in the November election to re-gain control of the chamber but said Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) would have to “pry” the speaker’s gavel from his hand if the Democrats win.

“You know what? Nancy Pelosi’s working hard. And even though we’ve won 65 seats from the Democrats over the last two years, she only has to win 25 seats to get my job back,” Boehner said during a speech in Derry, N.H. on Monday.

“Let me tell you what, the only way she’s going to get that gavel is to pry it out of my cold, stone hands,” said Boehner.

Pelosi, a liberal Democrat, served as speaker of the House from 2007 to 2011, the first woman to hold that position in Congress. Boehner became speaker after the 2010 elections when the Republicans regained control of the House.

Currently, the House is comprised of 435 members, 5 delegates and 1 resident.  There are 240 Republicans in the House, 190 Democrats, and 5 vacancies.
