GLOUSTER, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say a gas line has exploded in a rural area of southern Ohio but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

WBNS-TV reports that witnesses said flames shot hundreds of feet into the air.

A Morgan County sheriff's dispatcher and a spokesman for Athens County say the explosion happened Wednesday morning near Glouster, close to the line that divides the two counties. Crews from both counties were responding to the explosion.

A Tennessee Gas pipeline runs through the area. Tennessee Gas Pipeline spokesman Richard Wheatley says the company is sending people to the site but had not determined if its pipeline was involved in the explosion.

Officials say no further information is available.
