VA's Spending Up 92.2% in One Decade
(CNSNews.com) -- Inflation-adjusted federal spending on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has increased 92.2% in the last 10 years, according to the Monthly Treasury Statement, climbing from $73.3 billion in fiscal 2003 (in constant 2014 dollars) to $140.9 billion in 2013.
In fiscal year 2013, VA spending was $140,909,860,000 in 2014 dollars and included things such as medical services, medical support and compliance, medical facilities, housing accounts, compensation and pensions, and insurance funds, to name a few.
In fiscal 2009, the year President Obama took office, VA spending was $105,520,280,000 in 2014 dollars. That means that during Obama's presidency annual VA spending has increased 33.5%.
