(CNSNews.com) - Supermodel and Singer Mayra Verónica told CNSNews.com during an interview at the United Service Organizations (USO) Gala Wednesday that there is a contradiction between Sen. John McCain’s and Gov. Sarah Palin’s pro-life and pro-hunting views.
Verónica also told CNSNews.com that she is believe the surge in troops in Iraq worked and she is proud of the U.S. forces who carried it out.
When asked for her reaction to Actress Ashley Judd’s comments to CNSNews.com that “a woman voting for McCain-Palin is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders,” Verónica said she believes there is a “huge” contradiction in McCain’s and Palin’s views on life.
“You know, the one thing that really gets to me, which I don’t think many people are discussing, but to me sounds like a little bit of a contradiction is being pro-life yet being pro-hunting--unless you are assuming that animals are not alive. That’s such a huge contradiction to me on the McCain-Palin thing. It just doesn’t fit in my book,” she said.
Verónica, who visited wounded troops in Iraq last November with the USO and who was voted “favorite pin up girl” by the U.S. Marines, said she is proud of the success of U.S. troops in Iraq.
“I believe it does take a lot of power--a lot of manpower to get things done. They’re out there. They’re making things happen and, yes, I’m very proud. I think it did work and, yeah, I’m proud of them being out there and defending us and protecting us,” she said.
Verónica started her entertainment career as a model on Univision's “Don Francisco Presenta.” Her image has been featured in Smooth, King, Edge Magazine and Maxim. Her recordings include "Es Tan Dificil Olvidarte," a song dedicated to fallen troops.
She recently signed a record deal with Universal Motown, which will release her first English-language album next year.
