OAK FOREST, Ill. (AP) — An accident involving a commuter train and a car in suburban Chicago has left two people dead and others injured.

Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile (RYE-lee) says the front car of the train derailed slightly Thursday afternoon in the suburb of Oak Forest as it headed into the city. The train was carrying 89 passengers.

The medical examiner's office in Cook County says two people have died. The office wouldn't provide any additional information, and it wasn't immediately clear whether those killed were in the car. Reile says there were injuries to train passengers, but they don't appear life threatening.

Police and fire officials in Oak Forest, about 25 miles southwest of Chicago, declined to comment.

Reile said the train passengers have been evacuated to cooling buses.
