LAKE HALLIE, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say two people remain missing after a western Wisconsin boat collision that killed two others.
The Eau Claire Leader-Telegram (http://bit.ly/q6udw3 ) reports a Princecraft boat, which is similar to a pontoon boat, was carrying six people on the Chippewa River when it hit a speedboat with two people on board Friday night. Officials initially said four people were on the speedboat, but revised the number Saturday.
Chippewa County Undersheriff Eugene Gutsch says one person in each boat died. Three people were treated at area hospitals and one man was arrested.
Officials searched the river for the missing two until about 1:30 a.m. They resumed for about six hours later Saturday until temporarily suspending efforts due to a thunderstorm.
Gutsch says people on one boat had gathered for an upcoming wedding.
