Pelosi: 'Not My Responsibility' to Make Healthcare.gov Work
Asked by 'Daily Show' host Jon Stewart why it's so hard for the government to get a website like Healthcare.gov to work, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) bluntly said she didn't know.
"It's not my responsibility," she declared when pressed by Stewart on how she couldn't know. But, despite disavowing responsibility for the site's failures, Pelosi has helped lead the charge to pass, and then defend, Obamacare.
Jon Stewart: "Okay, we are going to set up a health care website that is an exchange; people are going to come to it. Why is it so hard to get a company to execute that competently?"
Nancy Pelosi: "I don't know."
Stewart: "What do you mean, you don't know? How do you not know?"
Pelosi: "Well, it's not my responsibility"
In the interview, Pelosi did acknowledge Healthcare.gov's failure is "appalling" and "shameful," but noted that "it's getting better...and the policy is solid."
