This probably isn't the best way to celebrate motherhood.

A new commercial by Spanish clothing brand Desigual has effectively offended both feminists and non-feminists alike. The commercial, which aired in time for Spain's Mother's Day, May 4, showed a young model happily posing in front of a mirror with a pillow stuffed under her dress. She turns from side to side, clearly liking the image of herself with a fake baby bump. The words "You decide," come across the screen, which is pro-choice lingo, but then the commercial is celebrating pregnancy at the same time, in an apparent attempt to satisfy both sides of the abortion debate. What happens next is surprising.

With a mischievous grin on her face, the young woman grabs a condom and gleefully stabs it with a pin. She fakes a surprised look and then laughs. "Happy Mother's Day" comes across the screen to end the commercial as she poses around the mirror, smugly.

The ad has reached over a million views in the few days it has been posted online and caused negative reaction from the public who say it promotes promiscuous sex and disrespects motherhood and women.

Desigual has responded that the ad was meant to be light-hearted and funny, but it seems like no one shares the company's sense of humor. The company cut the condom-pricking scene after receiving the negative backlash but you can still watch the unedited version on YouTube.
