How much would you pay for a donut?  $2?  $5?  Krispy Kreme has introduced a $1,600+ (£1,000) donut it is haling as "the world's most expensive donut."  In honor of National Donut Week (May 10-17, 2014), Krispy Kreme UK unveiled the champagne donut in Selfridges' Oxford Street Store.

But, this is not just an ordinary champagne donut.

World's Most Expensive Donut

This donut, according to Foodbeast and Metro took three days to create and is covered with Belgian white chocolate lotus flowers,  blossoms, ivy, and butterflies, edible diamonds, stuffed with vintage Dom Pérignon 2002 champagne jelly, and raspberry and Chateau d-Yquem crème, and finished with a dusting of 24 karat gold leaf.

The donut is accompanied by a cocktail made from raspberry and passion fruit syrup, Courvoisier Cognac, and more Dom Perignon 2002.

Unfortunately, according to Metro, the donut is not for sale, but was presented as a prize to a London make-up artist, Claudine Taylor, along with a check for £10,000 to The Children's Trust, a leading UK charity for children with brain injuries, raised from sales of its doughnuts during National Doughnut Week.  Additionally, customers can purchase more affordable copies of the "most expensive donut" for £39.95 per doughnut from Selfridges in London or Birmingham.
