Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) made comments critical of climate change skeptics by saying, “They say: ‘You have to have faith or you have science. You take your choice. You can’t have both.’ We say: ‘science is an answer to our prayers.’”
Pelosi made the comments at the “Time To Wake Up Congress to Climate Change Rally” in Washington on May 21.
“Time- it’s about time. It’s about time for us to wake up, Congress. It’s about the time that we have lost because of the opportunities that have been missed in the past several years – because there have been those in the Congress of the United States who did not respect science,” Pelosi said.
“What we’re talking about here is evidence-based. They reject the science. They say: ‘You have to have faith or you have science. You have to take your choice. You can’t have both.’ We say: ‘science is an answer to our prayers.’”
Pelosi gave no specifics as to who the "they" in Congress were in her speech.
The rally focused on urging House and Senate members to take actions to limit human activities that supporters feel contribute to climate change.
