If you want to politicize what you purchase – there is now an app for that.

Seriously. You can get information and make purchases based on your political beliefs in an instant.

BuyPartisan App

‘BuyPartisan’ allows the user to scan an items bar code and quickly discover how the company's board of directors, PAC’s and even employees tend to spend on political parties.

The app is available for free via the Spend Consciously website.

“For the first time you can scan a barcode and see the political spending behind the product that you are buying. Put your money where your beliefs are,” the website says.

I quickly discovered my co-worker’s bag of Zapp’s Regular Flavor Potato Chips is owned by Zappe Endeavors, LLC. A company that has an overall political spending average of 49% Republican, 31% Democrat and 20% other.

I see. Let the chips fall where they may.

Of course, not every item you can scan has a political record. My bottle of soda was correctly identified as "Super Premium Vintage Moxie" but “Political information is not available for the Company”.

When it comes to the political activity of my favorite soda the cap stays on - for now.
