A 49-year-old Connecticut man faces threatening charges after a woman reported that he stabbed a watermelon in what police describe as a passive-aggressive manner.
The Register Citizen reports Carmine Cervellino was arraigned on charges of threatening and disorderly conduct. He was released after posting bond and the case was referred to Family Services.
The woman reportedly felt that Cervellino was trying to intimidate her by what she perceived to be a menacing gesture.
The unidentified woman had gone to police earlier in July to report finding marijuana and some pills in Cervellino's toolbox. He was not arrested and is not facing any drug charges.
Officials say she later returned home to find the watermelon on a counter with a butcher's knife in it.
She reported that Cervellino then entered the room and began slicing the watermelon. The woman took a picture of the knife and contacted police.
