As the school year begins for college students, many of them will be greeted on campus by a message that they might not be exposed to in any of their classes:  “Big Government Sucks!”

That’s the message that the conservative group Turning Point USA is taking to 700 college campuses across the nation.  Turning point will be promoting the dangers of big government in ten weeks of activism. They will be engaging students on topics ranging from Obamacare to the federal debt to the NSA.

They will also be training interested students in ways they can help their classmates become a more informed electorate.

“Young Americans need to be woken up for the 2014 elections, and this project is growing like a wild fire—it’s edgy, it’s provocative, and it’s working,” said Turning Point USA  founder Charlie Kirk.

“The economy and natural, youthful individualism is making college voters open to fresh ideas.”

We shall see.  While polls show that young people are increasing concerned about issues involving privacy and government overreach, these concerns have not yet translated to big gains for liberty minded candidates when election season rolls around.

Turning Point USA says its mission is to educate students about "the importance of fiscal responsibility, free markets, and capitalism. Through non-partisan debate, dialogue, and discussion, Turning Point USA believes that every young person can be enlightened to true free market values."
