Today, Rep. Walter B. Jones (R-NC) blasted Pres. Obama's failure to enforce U.S. immigration laws, which he says has resulted in a 40 percent decrease in interior removals and incentivized illegal border crossings, particularly for children.

Obama's willful inaction is directly responsible for the current border crisis, Rep. Jones charges:

"A president's job is to faithfully execute the laws of this nation. But, on border security, like so many other issues, President Obama has willfully failed to do the job that he was elected to do."

"It is obvious that the crisis on our southern border is a direct result of the president's refusal to enforce our nation's immigration laws.  President Obama has all but invited the flood of illegal immigrants across our borders by making it clear that his administration will do little to deport those who are caught, while doing everything it can to grant amnesty to all those who have broken our laws."

Rep. Jones calls on Pres. Obama to "immediately begin enforcing our immigration laws" and, by so doing, send a forceful message that illegal immigration does not lead to citizenship:

"I call on the Obama administration now to immediately begin enforcing our immigration laws - and that means securing our borders, deporting those who have arrived illegally, and making it clear that such behavior will not be rewarded with citizenship in the future."
