Jen Psaki from the State Department (of hashtag diplomacy fame) shocked Fox News' Shepard Smith by going over routine matters instead of starting the press briefing with word of the Malaysian Airlines plane that went down over Ukraine.

Smith: "Well, this is just highly inappropriate I would say. Each day the State Department has a briefing. Each day there are State Department reporters who are there, that is their beat, they are assigned to be there. And you get a long list of things that are going on over the world and then you get to ask questions."

"Today, a Malaysian Airlines jet has fallen from the sky over a war zone and the State Department is beginning with routine matters," Smith continued. "You figure it out. I can't figure that out."

Calling to Jennifer Griffen, a reporter on the network, he said "I can't believe what just happened."

"That's the State Department, Shep. I'm not surprised," she replied.

After seeing this press conference, where Jen Psaki was openly mocked by reporters for claiming that "Obama doesn't give himself enough credit" on foreign policy, I'm not surprised either.
