Barbara Walters had a number of memorable interviews throughout her long career (she famously got Oprah to tear up), but in honor of her retirement, let’s take a look back at an interview she did with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She made them cry, too.

During the annual Oscar special in 1991, Barbara Walters interviewed General Schwarzkopf, and then she sat down with Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle foursome.

It was part of the promotion for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze. Michelangelo calls Barbara “dudette” and the Turtles blame prejudice against reptiles for their lack of Oscar and burst into tears when Barbara asks if they know who their parents are.

In 2010, Walters told the New York Daily News that she doesn’t “want to go down in history for interviewing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles …they all cried their wet tears on my dress. I could never wear it again.”

Because, that was the most undignified part of that interview.
