Obama Road to Charlotte

FILE - In this Aug. 28, 2008, file photo Democratic presidential candidate, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., waves to the crowd as he prepares to address the Democratic National Convention at Invesco Field in Denver, Colo. Obama’s own road has been steep from Denver to Charlotte, N.C., where he will accept his party's nomination again in September. People remember the hope and the history. For him or against him, they picture candidate Obama as the one who stood on the Democrats' stage in Denver and declared, "It's time for us to change America." Forgotten, it seems, is what Obama said after he actually won. In November, four years ago, he said solemnly that the road ahead would be long. In his words, "We may not get there in one year, or even one term." (AP Photo/Scott Andrews and Chuck Kennedy, Pool)
