The Next Generation Gaming War Is Now On

Following the recent launch of Sony's Playstation 4, Microsoft announced their next generation console today. They're calling it the XBOX One. According to The Verge, it's packed with a score of impressive new technologies.

"Microsoft built on what made the Xbox so popular in the first place: streaming entertainment and major franchises like Call of Duty or Halo" says The Verge. They also tell us that the XBOX One has things like "gameplay sharing, a full suite of apps, and more robust support for its SmartGlass mobile interface."

It sounds like an impressive evolution from the current XBOX 360 - but, whether or not it will outclass the Playstation 4's offerings remains to be seen. And, frankly, it's uglier than any other consol I've ever seen. It practically makes my Tivo look like artwork.

However, just like the last generation of gaming consoles, I'll probably end up with a Playstation 4 AND an XBOX One. Woe unto my entertainment center... it's going to have a lot of stuff to find space for soon enough. The opposite can be said of my bank account, sadly.
