In an utterly unsurprising development this week, a town meeting in Westford, Massachusetts debated whether or not to ban so-called "assault weapons." However, in a rather surprising development, the ban was not only withdrawn, but it was withdrawn to the cheering of hundreds of residents.

CBS Boston even described the applause as "thunderous"

It's incredible to see hundreds of Americans stand up for their rights in one of the most liberal anti-gun enclaves in the country.

Robert Jeffries, who introduced the assault weapons ban, says that he "thought maybe some other towns in Massachusetts might have also tried something similar and none of them did. So, it left us isolated as the only ones."

What does that tell us about who is winning this debate? (h/t AmmoLand)
