A violent criminal allegedly tried to use Craigslist to set up his armed robbery in Fort Worth, Texas. Unfortunately for him, according to KDFW, the man he tried to rob was a concealed carry permit holder who had his gun on him. The ensuing shootout resulted in the alleged robber's demise.

The concealed carry permit holder was also injured in the firefight. He was reportedly hit in the wrist and arm. He was taken to the hospital shortly after the incident.

This story serves to remind us all of the reasons why it's important to be responsibly armed. However, it also reminds us of how truly dangerous any situation involving defensive firearm use can be. In my experience writing about self defense stories it seems that most of the stories highlighted by local media involve law abiding citizens who are not harmed in the course of defending their homes and families.

That can't always be the case. These are dangerous encounters which don't always leave the innocent unscathed. Of course, the most important thing here is that the concealed carry permit holder was only injured.

We can thank the fact that he was responsibly armed for that.
