The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon, apparently loves the now-viral South Korean pop song “Gangnam Style.” Ki-Moon called the song “amazing,” and expressed his desire to “promote better understanding through the power of music.”

In an interview with AFP, the Korean-born Ki-Moon expressed his admiration for South Korean artist Psy and his hit, declaring: "I'm very proud that his performance has been loved and enjoyed by more than 400 million people," Ban said. “It is amazing.”

During the interview, Moon also expressed his hope that music might become a force for global understanding: “In this era of instability and intolerance we need to promote better understanding through the power of music.”

Ki-Moon’s idea of promoting better global understanding through music is certainly novel and creative. There’s no telling whether it has any basis in reality, however.
