Antoine Dodson, who became an Internet sensation after being interviewed by a local news station, has decided to renounce his homosexuality.
In a statement posted Thursday, on his Facebook page, Dodson, 26, wrote:
"I'm no longer into homosexuality I want a wife and family, I want to multiply and raise and love my family that I create/" "I could care less about the fame and fortune, I've giving all that up to know the true history of the bible."
Prior to this announcement, Dodson had referred to himself as "gay."
Dodson became a minor celebrity after a video of his reaction to the attempted rape of his sister went viral in 2010. In which he famously said:
"Well, obviously we have a rapist in Lincoln Park. He's climbin' in yo windows, he's snatchin' yo people up, tryin' to rape 'em. So y'all need to hide yo kids, hide yo wife, and hide yo husband cause they rapin' everybody out here."
That video was then turned into a song that racked up more than 114 million views on YouTube and reached number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100 music charts.
Since his initial success, Dodson has been on various television shows and has also been arrested several times for marijuana possession.
Ironically, last year Dodson made a video in support of Chic-Fil-A. Chic-Fil-A has come under fire from pro-gay groups for its support of traditional marriage.
The question as to whether an individual can choose their sexual preference is the subject of some debate. However, it would appear that Dodson believes that with the help of his family, he can pray his gay away.
"I have been awaken by the great and so should you," he wrote in his Thursday Facebook status update.
"Let's be delivered from the wickedness of the world and live the way we should."
