Newt Gingrich says he thinks Israel will strike at Iran on "the morning" it thinks it has to - and that Israel has his full support in its efforts to protect itself from destruction.

In his interview with radio host Lars Larson, Gingrich even went so far as to say he can't conceive of why anyone would oppose Israel protecting itself.

"I think the Israelis are going to hit them the morning the Israelis decide they have no alternative," Gingrich said.

"And, whether that’s two months or two years from now, I can’t tell you. But, I strongly and totally support the right of the Israeli prime minister to protect his country from the threat of annihilation."

"And, I can’t imagine why anybody would object to the Israelis defending themselves."

On Friday, Deputy Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi warned Israel that "Any act by the Zionist regime against Iran will bring about its destruction" and that

"Iran's warriors are ready and willing to wipe Israel off the map."
