Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) says government regulations create jobs because businesses “need actually more people to help respond to the new requirement." People who’ve actually studied this topic disagree.

As part of a congressional investigation into burdensome regulations, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) cited the Obama administration’s own estimate that new regulations issued in 2010 are costing Americans an additional $28 billion and destroying thousands of jobs.

Likewise, this study by National Economic Research Associates shows that new EPA regulations would kill 1.4 million jobs – four jobs lost for every one created.
