In response to the Supreme Court’s ruling (5-4) that homosexual “marriage” is a civil right, the Catholic bishop for the diocese of Tyler, Texas said it was an “unjust” law “contrary to the moral order” and “not binding in conscience,” adding that Christians “must now exercise our right to conscientious objection.”

In reaction to the Supreme Court’s 5-4 ruling that homosexual marriage is a right, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) said it was “profoundly immoral and unjust” for the government to declare that two people of same sex “constitute a marriage,” and added that this “tragic error” harms the “common good” and “especially children.”
